Luxury architecture magazines have no business promoting the ‘new luxury lifestyle’
- August 11, 2021
Luxury architectural magazine luxury architecture and design magazines are not promoting the “new luxury luxury lifestyle” as they have been accused of being “an enemy of the public good”, according to the editors of the magazine’s current issue.
The editors of The Luxury Architecture and Design Magazine, which was launched in November 2014, claim that it has no “political, commercial or social mission”, and that its mission is to provide a “free space for architecture to showcase its creative talent and to promote a sense of community, respect and appreciation”.
However, the editors have been criticised by the magazine itself and by critics, who have accused them of promoting a “vulgar, anti-social lifestyle”.
In an open letter to the magazine, the group said: “The Luxury Architects and Designers Association is a very large and diverse organisation, with members across the globe, who do a fantastic job representing the best of architecture and its creative community.”
The Luxure Architects and Designer Associations (LADAP) is an organisation that works to promote and develop architecture and designer careers in the UK.LADAPD is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to advance the ideals of the UK’s architecture and architecture design profession, which are recognised by the British Council as a “career” in which “professional skills and experiences are valued and recognised”.LADAPE is the umbrella organisation of the association, and it was established in 1993.
However, its members have criticised the organisation’s “vicious” attacks on “luxury architecture” magazines, which it has accused of “anti-social” behaviour.
The letter, written by a number of the organisation members, was published in the magazine earlier this month, and was signed by more than 100 of its members.
It said: “[The association] has had the unfortunate privilege of working closely with The Luxure Architecture and Designer Association in recent years.
In addition to being a member of the LADAP, we also have the opportunity to work with the LACDA, which represents many of the world’s most prestigious architecture and landscape magazines.”
We are proud of our association and of the many people who have worked with us over the years, and we believe the Luxury Architect and Designer Professionals Association is well on its way to becoming a model organisation.
“The letter continued: “We hope that you will consider this and take a stand for the values that we share as architects and designers, which include respecting our diverse community, supporting our members’ work, and supporting our profession and our profession’s mission.
“A spokesman for the magazine said: “”The Luxuriously Adulterated Luxury and Design Association has received a number more negative and offensive comments and has received hundreds of hate-filled and abusive emails, letters and tweets since we launched our inaugural issue in November.”
Despite these threats, we are proud to be a professional organisation that respects the profession’s values and is committed to the advancement of the profession.
“The LADAPD said it would “continue to be the voice of the architecture and heritage sector, supporting and protecting the architecture, landscape and heritage communities”.”
The Luxuries Association will not tolerate this type of behaviour and we will continue to stand by the principles that underlie the LDA,” the spokesman added.
